This is one of my favourite pictures – I have that Fount edition of the Imitation (trans. Betty I. Knox – i was given it for my confirmation, and have had multiple copies of the same edition since, i keep giving it to people etc) which has the face of Our Lord from this picture on the cover, indeed, over the whole of the front cover, and only a few years ago found out what the rest of the painting looks like.
