Thank you, dear Seraphic! I did this in rather a hurry, as I’m off to Slovakia for a week tomorrow, and time has been impossibly tight for weeks now. To all my loyal blog-followers (both of you), I apologise for my neglect of TT and your own blogs – I still luvs yaz, honest!
Anyway…
What is your chief characteristic?
Affability (I hope!)
What is your principal fault?
It used to be blithe indolence – now it’s anxious indolence
What is your favourite quality in a man?
Cheerfulness.

Kind-heartedness
Who is your favourite historical figure?
The Chesterbelloc.
Who are your living heroes?
Corny, I know, but – Benedict XVI. Or Ray Mears. Er…

A better version of myself – I wouldn’t be comfortable being anyone else. Quite a lot better though.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
Tea, books, cake, booze, “laughter and the love of friends”.
What is your idea of misery?
Wage-slavery in a stressful but unrewarding job.
Where would you like to live?
Edinburgh. Truly. Maybe with a cottage somewhere in the West Highlands too.

Diplomacy.
For what fault do you have the most toleration?
Grumpiness.

Moss-green.
Of all things, what do you most detest?

Not really, but “Amor vincit omnia” is pretty good.

Hello! Will cross pond on Sept 26, arriving in Gatwick around dawn Sept 27. Then I shall gradually make way from Gatwick to Embra by land and kiss ground whence sprang mother’s mothers. Updates to follow.

I am arriving at St. Andrew’s Square bus station, Embra, at 18:25 on September 27. I leave Victoria at 9:00 AM, and I will have been travelling for 26 hours all together. Therefore I may be weepy and exhausted and in need of protection from Covenanters, Casuals and Al-Qaeda. If you meet me, would you please bring me a cup of tea? Ta in advance.
I once arrived in a Montreal bus station looking like a terrified pit pony. My eyes rolled. My chin quivered. My head ached. But my brother (upon whom be the blessings of God) thrust a cup of tea into my shaking hands, and life no longer seemed so dire.

Tea, sympathy and brandy, my dear! Such travail is truly heroic and deserves Valhallic recompense.
All at the Palazzo Nuovo will be prepared for your advent – the crowds clamour at the gates to touch even the hem of your bus-soiled garments (but will be kept at bay for a few days to allow your recovery). You may sleep until Monday afternoon, if you wish – thereafter, your presence is requested at a Reception (held not entirely in your honour
) .

I am very excited to be at your Reception! I feel like a literary character who has inexpicably come to life and is going to visit literary characters from other books.

Speaking of which, I came across a passage in a book I haven’t read in an age which I think I’ll post up now…
